Hobbies are activities done for enjoyment, relaxation, or passion outside of one’s regular occupation. I find it is important to spell it out clearly and define what my hobbies are (or which ones I’d like to pursue) to help me explore hobbies meaningfully.
I currently have what I consider four core skill-based hobbies:
- Weightlifting
- Hiking
- Golfing
- Motorcycling
For me, hobbies should feel “productive” and I expect to improve at them and feel immersed in their communities. I find that they are more deliberate than simple “interests” such as my interest in NBA basketball, or drinking coffee.
I have a page dedicated to each hobby, which helps encapsulate my own journey and various aspects of the hobby that I’ve tracked or learned.
A quick note, I find the following to be foundational skills, not necessarily hobbies that I want to address separately:
- Cooking (Essential foundation of Weightlifting for me)
- Photography (Used as a tool in relation to my core hobbies)
- Videography (Used as a tool in relation to my core hobbies)
